In a relaxed and enjoyable environment, you will achieve the skills and knowledge for Drug and Alcohol Testing. This course is a nationally accredited course designed to train people in how to conduct drug and alcohol training. This course will enable learners to understand how to complete Drug and Alcohol testing in the workplace in a safe, legal and ethical manner.

It is a requirement for firms collecting urine or oral fluid samples who wish to meet Australian Standards to have their collectors trained as per the definition of collector under AS/NZS4308:2008 and AS4760:2006.

Entry Requirements: There are no pre-requisites for this course; however, it is recommended participants have sufficient English language and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the training.
Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin (placed on the floor) for a period of two minutes. If you have a current injury poor mobility or please discuss this prior to enrolling.
Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian. Consent form

 

Minimum Age: Enrolments not excepted for participants under of the age of 14 for this course.

 

Requirements for Successful Completion: Participants are required to attend 100% of this training, and successfully demonstrate competence in all assessment activities.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements:

Participants will need suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills:

– Read information from a PowerPoint and whiteboard
– Listen and understand verbal information by an English-speaking trainer
– Complete written incident report forms in English
– Read and answer a multiple-choice & short-written question paper
– Listen to instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator where prompts are delivered in English and count to 30

– Detail best practice principles to ensure privacy and confidentiality
– Duty of care, provision of information, fairness, and gender and cultural sensitivity
– Plan & conduct appropriate testing activities
– Respectful communication about testing activities & outcomes
– Respond effectively to testing challenges including positive test results
– Providing testing in remote locations, dealing with refusal, or failure to undergo testing
– Outline notification and record keeping requirements for
– D&A testing
– Chain of Custody procedure
