In a relaxed and enjoyable environment, you will achieve the skills and knowledge to effectively Advanced First Aid response for a range of injuries and illnesses contextualised for your workplace, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

Certificate: On successful completion and verified USI your Statement of Attainment will be emailed to you, the evening after the course.


Duration: 9.5 hours (One Day) – Normally 8am to 5.30 pm


Qualification Validity: Three (3) years from date of issue.
CPR unit requires refresher training every 12 months.
Our student management system will remind you when your units of competency’s are due to be refreshed.

Entry Requirements: There are no pre-requisites for this course; however, it is recommended participants have sufficient English language and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the training.
Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin (placed on the floor) for a period of two minutes. If you have a current injury poor mobility or please discuss this prior to enrolling.
Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian. Consent form


Minimum Age: Enrolments not excepted for participants under of the age of 14 for this course.


Requirements for Successful Completion: Participants are required to attend 100% of this training, and successfully demonstrate competence in all assessment activities.

Additional Information
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements:

Participants will need suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills:

– Read information from a PowerPoint and whiteboard
– Listen and understand verbal information by an English-speaking trainer
– Complete written incident report forms in English
– Read and answer a multiple-choice & short-written question paper
– Listen to instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator where prompts are delivered in English and count to 30

– ARC Guidelines relevant to provision of CPR and first aid
– safe work practices to minimise risks and potential hazards
– infection control principles and procedures, including use of standard precautions
– requirements for currency of skill and knowledge
– legal, workplace and community considerations including:
– awareness of potential need for stress-management techniques and available support following an emergency situation

– respectful behaviour towards a casualty

– privacy and confidentiality requirements
– importance of debriefing
– considerations when providing first aid including:
– airway obstruction due to body position
– appropriate duration and cessation of CPR
– appropriate use of an AED

– how to conduct a visual and verbal assessment of the casualty
– principles and procedures for first aid management of the following scenarios:
– abdominal injuries
– allergic reaction
– anaphylaxis
– basic care of a wound
– bleeding control
– burns
– cardiac conditions, including chest pain
– choking and airway obstruction
– crush injuries
– diabetes
– dislocations
– drowning
– envenomation
– environmental impact, including hypothermia, hyperthermia, dehydration and heat stroke
