In a relaxed and enjoyable environment, you will achieve the skills and knowledge for Safely access the rail corridor. This nationally recognised course will provide participants with the knowledge, training and skills to effectively work safely in and around the rail corridor. The training will detail how to take appropriate safety precautions to access the danger zone, access the rail corridor and how to respond appropriately in an emergency.

This course is for people who are going to be working in and around the rail corridor.

Certificate: On successful completion and verified USI your Statement of Attainment will be emailed to you, the evening after the course.

 

Duration: 4 hours (One Day) – Normally 8am to 12pm

Entry Requirements: There are no pre-requisites for this course; however, it is recommended participants have sufficient English language and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the training.
Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin (placed on the floor) for a period of two minutes. If you have a current injury poor mobility or please discuss this prior to enrolling.
Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian. Consent form

 

Minimum Age: Enrolments not excepted for participants under of the age of 14 for this course.

 

Requirements for Successful Completion: Participants are required to attend 100% of this training, and successfully demonstrate competence in all assessment activities.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements:

Participants will need suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills:

– Read information from a PowerPoint and whiteboard
– Listen and understand verbal information by an English-speaking trainer
– Complete written incident report forms in English
– Read and answer a multiple-choice & short-written question paper
– Listen to instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator where prompts are delivered in English and count to 30

– How to identify and access a safe place
– Identifying the direction of approaching traffic
– Applying minimum sighting distances
– Maintaining situational awareness to identify potential risks
– Identifying and explaining the use of communication tools when working in the rail environment
– Identifying electrical safety hazards, risks and controls used in the rail corridor
– Identifying and reporting unsafe situations within the rail environment
– Undertaking work activities under local track protection rules in accordance with safe working rules, procedures and regulatory requirements
